“A council of local volunteers”.
They went on organise several summer sports events up to the late 1990s, and then after a few years’ break the HNC was relaunched in 2010, which is when I first became involved with the HNC. Over the next few years, the HNC put on many free community events, including annual Christmas and Summer festivals, outdoor music festivals, and some classic car shows.
Organising and putting on these events takes a lot of time and some very hard work, and the original members are some of the most genuine and hard working people I have ever had the privilege to be associated with. Hats off to all of you!
As with many things, Covid put a halt to the events, and in the aftermath, the group was unable to put the time and considerable effort needed to produce the high standard of events they had previously presented. Now, a new group of enthusiastic volunteers is relaunching the HNC and is looking to continue and expand on the great successes of the original members.
More on this to come.

Here are some photos taken at past events organised and run by the original members of the HNC, and I’m looking forward to working with the new members to bring these fantastic community events back to Heyside and out to other parts of Royton.
